What is OCD?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a condition that involves obsessions (thoughts) and compulsions (actions) that are beyond one’s control and interfere with day-to-day life. Obsessions: They are unwanted and intrusive thoughts, urges, images or worries that keep coming back even after trying to ignore them. These thoughts can be very disturbing in nature. It makes one feel anxious, frightened and uncomfortable. Examples of Obsessions: Fear of germs/ illness/ dirt, aggressive thoughts about self and others, unwanted sexual thoughts, worries about the safety and health of self or others, need to keep everything in order.
